Argonia woman, Linda Haskin, 57, identified in yesterday’s accident on U.S. 160

first_imgby Shane Farley, Newscow.net and Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — An Argonia woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when her vehicle collided with a semi truck and flipped on U.S. 160 in Sumner County.Linda D. Haskin, 57, was dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred just before 3:30 p.m. She was wearing a seatbelt, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol Report.Samantha Haskin, 21, Argonia, was riding in what was described in the report as a 1997 Dodge passenger vehicle. She was transported to a Wichita hospital for treatment.A three-month-old child, Keegan Barkley, also was in the vehicle and was transported to a hospital in Wellington for treatment. Haskin was westbound on the highway, about two miles east of Argonia and west of the Morris Road and U.S. 160 intersection, when she crossed the centerline and collided with a 2009 Peterbuilt semi.She lost control of the vehicle, slid into the south ditch and hit a guardrail. That caused the vehicle to flip and come to rest on its top at the bottom of a creek, according to the report.The driver of the semi, Jeremy L. Perry, 30, Valley Center, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.Perry was driving a 2009 86 Peterbilt semi truck and carrying sheetrock for Paul Transportation Inc. in Enid, Okla.“They were going westbound and I was going eastbound, I hit the brakes and tire marks, you can see my swerve marks trying to avoid them, but they kept coming to hit me,” Perry said. “They hit my truck and the trailer.”The KHP and Sumner County Sheriff’s Department worked the scene of the accident.
